Discord Payment Messages

Discord payment messages are a great way to keep your members engaged with their membership status.

Getting started with the Discord Payment Messages app only takes a few minutes. This guide will cover everything from creating the bot to saving your configuration in Hyper.

Setting up a Discord Bot

The first thing you'll want to do is head to the Discord Developers Portal. You should be greeted by the screen below.

Discord Developers Homepage

Once you're on the portal, look for "New Application" in the top right. It should be next to your profile picture. Go ahead and click "New Application". A popup dialog will appear. It will ask for the name of your application — make it something relevant to your business — we've named it "My Business" in this example. Don't worry too much, you can always change this later.

Creating a Discord application

Once your application is created, you'll be redirected to the overview page. From here you'll want to create your Bot. Click on the "Bot" tab on the left side of the page. Once you're on the Bot page, click the "Add Bot" button located underneath your profile picture about ⅓ down the page.

Creating a Discord bot

In order to connect to the Discord API, you'll need to generate what's called a Bot token. This allows us to make calls to the Discord API on behalf of your bot. Click "Reset token" to generate your token. Make sure to copy this down somewhere safe — you can only view it once.

Creating your Bot token

Once you've saved your token, the last step is building your Bot URL. Click on the "OAuth2" tab on the left. The only box you'll need to tick here is "bot". Scroll to the bottom and copy the URL that's generated.

Generating the Discord OAuth URL

Lastly, you'll want to paste this URL into your browser and wait for the page to load. Select your server and click "Authorize". You'll see a popup that says "Authorized". You can now close the tab.

Configuring the app in Hyper

If you don't already have the app installed, you can do so here.

Copy the bot token from earlier in this guide to your clipboard and paste it in to the "Bot Token" input. You can either input a custom hex code or use our color picker to find the right color for your messages. Click "Save" at the bottom of the form to save your changes.

For each message type, you can either input your desired content or leave it blank if you don't want to send messages for this event.

The Hyper Discord payment messages app

That's it! You've successfully configured messages to be sent to members when certain payment events take place. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask in our Discord!
